Another Spinoff of The Boys Is in Development at Amazon

The Boys (or some of their colleagues) may be coming to another country near you. According to Variety, another spinoff of the popular Prime Video series is in the works—and this one is a Spanish-language series set in Mexico.

The most recent Boys spinoff, Gen V (pictured above), recently ended its successful first season. Before that, there was the animated anthology The Boys Presents: Diabolical. This potential new show doesn’t have a title or a cast yet, but it does have some well-known names attached. Sources tell Variety that Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is attached to write, and that Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal are on board as executive producers, “though deals are still being worked out on the series.” Erik Kripke, who created The Boys, would also be among the executive producers.

The Boys is based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Ennis is also the creator of the Preacher comics, which were adapted into a series as well (in the comics, Preacher and The Boys take place in the same universe).

It’s not the only Amazon series going for an international approach: The big-budget Citadel, which barely seemed to make a splash here, is intended to have spinoffs set in a handful of other countries. You can’t get world domination with just the U.S., after all.

There’s no word on timeline or cast for this next superhero spectacular.
